NAGS HEAD, NC - The Saint Peter's College women's bowling team went 4-0 in Baker Match play on Sunday play to win the 2009 Beach Open at the Nags Head Bowling Center.
Despite taking all four 3-out-of-5 matches to five games each, the Bowling Peahens earned their first tournament championship in the program's NCAA history. After earning the #2 seed through their efforts in Friday and Saturday's competition, Saint Peter's started the day by defeating #5 seeded Howard. After losing the first two games of their second match, the Bowling Peahens rallied to defeat #1 seed Hampton. The third match ended in victory over #3 seeded Bowie State, and after a bye, Saint Peter's once again defeated Bowie State to win the double-elimination tournament.
LAUREL, MD - The Saint Peter's women's bowling team finished 5th out of 20 teams at the Lady Bulldogs Classic hosted by Bowie State University. They won five of six in Traditional Match play on Saturday and won one of five in Baker Match play on Sunday.
Captain Kristin Thompson led the Bowling Peahens with a 202.7 average for the six traditional matches, including a season-high 246 against Coppin State.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ (March 10-11, 2007) - The Saint Peter's College Peahens (45-44) reached the Championship Match of the 2007 ECAC Championships for the first time in school history over the weekend. Saint Peter's lost to #1 FDU 3-0 (187-169, 255-160 and 248-192) in the best of five baker match. On their way to the finals, the Peahens knocked off four Nationally Ranked teams, including #4 NJCU in the semifinals. On day one of the competition Saint Peter's was unstoppable knocking off #7 Sacred Heart, #15 Morgan State, Cheyney and Howard. The four victories put them into the top four and the semifinals. In the semfinal match on Saturday, the Peahens took care of the Gothic Knights, winning 3-1 (221-181, 172-235, 213-162 and 232-178). This vaulted the Peahens into the finals where they fell to the Knights. On day two the Peahens also defeated Cheyney and #16 Adelphi. Saint Peter's is now above .500 for the first time all season and will head to Vanderbilt this weekend for the VU Classic.
